Creating new opportunities for The Hague Beach
On the outskirts of Rotterdam a new neighbourhood has been created combined with a large recreation lake, well connected to the city.
A park, yacht harbour, a beach and the shopping area composes the relation between the lake with the housing, creating a special living environment:
beach-culture in the Dutch polder, 7 metres below sea level. Landscaping/urbanism as only the Dutch can.
Our partner Arjen Knoester designed the urban plan and worked on the project as head urban planning / architecture supervisor for the City of Rotterdam
Extending an excisting lake twice the original size gives soul to the new town.

This scheme contains a proposal for three Game Changing ingredients in order to improve the long term prospects of this post war social housing area in The Hague.
By introducing an Urban lake, a Green Campus and a Bazar Quarter, Morfis allows new energy to flow into one of the most vulnerable districts of the city. New physical qualities are accompanied by social and economic opportunities in the area
